The prescription consisitra in the construction of four million aerogenerators of 5 MW, 1,700 million photovoltaic covers of 3 KW, 90,000 solar power stations of 300 MW (including as much photovoltaic as of termosolar), plus a small portion of geothermal, energy of waves and the tides. The calculations leave of side the biomass (by questions of contamination and occupation of the territory) and the nuclear power, as well as all the nonrenewable energies. The aerogenerators are greater than those than operate at the moment, although already some Aeolian parks with aerogenerators of 5 MW have been constructed. The renewable energies can provide the 100 percent of the world-wide energy, eliminating all the fossil fuels. By Mark Z. Jacobson (University of Stanford) and Mark a. Delucchi (Univ. California Davis).
The Aeolian energy and the solar energy in the suitable places would reduce the energy consumed in the world. The authors reject the biocombustibles and the nuclear power. The plan of the authors demands 3.8 million of great aerogenerators of 5 MW, 90,000 power stations termosolares and photovoltaic, and numerous facilities of geothermal, photovoltaic tides and ceilings anywhere in the world. The cost of generating and of transmitting the energy would be minor who the cost projected by kilowatthour of fossil fuels and nuclear power. Shortage of some special materials, along with the lack of political will, appears like the majors obstacles. In December, leaders worldwide met in Copenhagen to deal with to reach an agreement on reduction the emissions from CO2 and other gases from greenhouse effect during decades.
The most effective step for the fulfillment of that objective would be an enormous change from fossil fuels to the renewable energy sources. If they can have the leaders confidence in which such transformation is possible, they can be committed to an historical agreement. We think they can do that it.
